After reviewing students’ applications and conducting interviews, it is with great pleasure that we announce that we have selected Joaquin Buentello to serve as the Head Coach of the National Hispanic Institute at Tip of Texas for the 2023-2024 season.
Joaquin Buentello is a senior at Saint Joseph Academy, where he participates in several extracurricular activities, including Rotary Interact, B.I.O.N.I.C. team, and Model U.N. He has been involved with NHI at Tip of Texas since his freshman year, when he was as a finalist in Mock Trial at the 2021 GDx. In 2022, he participated in the American Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session, where he was a member of the House of Representatives. In 2023, he participated in the Rocky Mountain CWS, where he was a Thought Series finalist. He has served as a John F. Lopez Fellow and been a coach in Mock Trial throughout his high school career.
"I want to thank the Tip of Texas Region for this honor" Buentello said. "As Head Coach, I will serve this team to the best of my abilities. I am excited for the 2023 Great Debate, and want to see how Tip of Texas can only go farther," he added.
