It is with great pleasure that we announce that Miranda Urzua has been appointed to serve as the Head Coach of the National Hispanic Institute at Tip of Texas for the 2026 season!

Miranda Urzua is a senior at South Texas ISD Medical Professions. She currently serves as Student Council President, Vice President of the Class of 2026, and Vice Chair of Brownsville’s Youth Advisory Board, where she focuses on youth advocacy and access to opportunity. She competed at the 2023 Texas Great Debate, 2024 American Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session, and the 2025 Rocky Mountains Collegiate World Series. This is her third year coaching Mock Trial.

“NHI gave me a place to grow into my voice when I was still figuring out who I wanted to become,” Urzua said. "Stepping into this role, I will continue showing up for students the way others once showed up for me. As Head Coach, I want to build a culture rooted in trust, effort, and growth, where every participant feels supported and capable of more than they believe," she added. "I’m grateful to the Tip of Texas region for this opportunity and excited to give back to a program that has shaped so much of who I am.”
